Hall 5.1, booth K07. Three metres by three. One counter, two chairs, two machines.
At 9:40 on the first morning, the blender started up empty. Water climbed to the top of the jug wall; the sound stayed low, not sharp. At 10:05 we dropped the first piece of beef shank into the meat grinder and pulled fine mince out three minutes later. For the next eight hours the two machines barely stopped. Buyers came in waves, the jug was wiped again and again, and a thin film of water stayed on the counter.
The aisle is three metres wide. To get from one end to the other, people edge past each other.
In a single day we heard about nine languages: Arabic, Russian, English in several accents, French, Portuguese, Turkish, Urdu, and two we could not place. Translation software does not cover everything. More often it was a sheet of paper, a pen, and a finger tapping a row of specs, line by line.
One buyer wrote 220V/50Hz in the voltage field and circled plug type G. The next buyer took the same form and wrote 110V/60Hz, drawing a three-pin flat plug. The same machine, and two different worlds on two pieces of paper.
An order is never just an order. Upstream it is steel, copper wire, motors, moulded parts. Downstream it is sailing schedules, a distributor’s warehouse in the destination country, and this month’s pay for dozens of households. Meeting a delivery date forces you to learn someone else’s voltage, plug, certification marks and packaging language. The world does not always agree to understand itself. But because the goods have to arrive, it is obliged to understand properly once. Trade is that kind of mechanism: it is not loud, but it puts people in a position where they have to respond.
So we turned “respect” into items you can check one by one:
- Product materials in four languages — Chinese, English, Russian and Arabic. Every Arabic page is typeset strictly with dir=”rtl”: numerals and diagrams mirror with the direction of the text, rather than a one-off left-right flip of the Chinese page.
- Two voltage versions run in parallel, 220V/50Hz and 110V/60Hz, covering the GCC standard and common plug types G/C/F. Certification files are archived by destination country and can be pulled up on the spot.
- For household structure in the Middle East, larger jug capacity and halal-scene adaptations: bigger single-batch preparation, and cleaning that is stricter about water neutrality and residue.
Three metres by three will not hold a full category. We brought two products: one meat grinder, one blender. Not because there is nothing else, but because these are the two we intend to do thoroughly — blades, motor, seals, noise, service life, one item at a time. In a small booth, the most honest thing you can say is this: you will not have to guess among ten models.
Hall 5.1, booth K07, 15 October to 4 November. Bring your voltage standard, your plug type and your packaging requirements. Drawings can be confirmed on the spot, and a machine can be opened up in front of you.
An aisle three metres wide, nine languages in one day. The world gets folded into a single booth here. It is not tidy. But it is willing to sit down and finish talking about the same machine.
